Name: Wayne Eyre
Role: Distribution Manager

As Distribution Manger, it’s Wayne’s job to ensure that all vehicles are compliant and that deliveries remain on track and are out the door on time. A vital part of this is ‘load planning’, which basically means that lorries are strategically loaded and that the right stock is on the right vehicle. When lorries leave the depot, they head off in different locations with multiple drops, ‘load planning’ ensure the smooth running of this. That’s not all, Wayne is also in charge of the depot’s stock control, with millions of pounds’ worth of stock going through the depot, it’s crucial for him keep a hold of this.

Having worked in distribution for over 20 years, much of this within the drinks industry, and with a career that began as a ‘driver’s mate’, Wayne brings years of experience to his role at LWC.

Wayne comments: “LWC are the largest wholesaler in the country so it’s great that we can pull products from all over the UK, especially as some products can take a while to filter down to us in Cornwall.”

When he’s not busy maintaining the smooth running of LWC Cornwall’s distribution, Wayne enjoys walking his dogs along the Cornwall beaches and cliff tops.

Name: Donna Mitchell
Role: Cask Expert

Having started at LWC as part of the telesales team, 13 years later Donna is now also the team’s Cask Expert. That means she spends much of her time sourcing specific products for clients, whether that’s for monthly offers, ale festivals, other specific events or for food pairings, often liaising with LWC’s Area Managers to agree offers for clients. Cask products usually have a much shorter life than spirits and wines so instead of keeping stock levels high, it’s up to Donna to find a particular product when a client requires it.

“When a customer asks for something weird and wonderful, it’s always a challenge to then find them the right product and I really enjoy that. Instead of sourcing the same old thing, I get to go out there and find slightly quirkier products.”

When Donna isn’t chasing after the weird and wonderful, she’s looking after her five grandchildren or enjoying weekends away!

Name: Duncan Bryan
Role: Brand Development Manager – Signature Brands

Duncan is passionate about LWC’s signature brands. It is his job to build provenance around each brand, creating a unique identity. This includes ensuring a brand is paired with the correct outlet, whether that’s new, trendy cocktail bars, traditional country pubs or a restaurant which is looking to pair a drink perfectly with their menu. Duncan also uses his knowledge and expertise to deliver staff training in-house at LWC and while out on the road, cocktail training is also conducted at various outlets.

Duncan comments: “There’s a lot of diversity in my role and a really broad customer range so it’s always a lot of fun finding the perfect brand to suit a bar or restaurant. Our signature brands are more like lifestyle brands to LWC so finding the perfect match is really important.”

When he’s not working on the identity of LWC’s signature brands, you will find Duncan training for marathons and 50km coast runs.

Name: Claire Redfearn
Role: Wine Development Manager

Claire spends the majority of her time liaising with customers to ensure LWC are providing them with the correct products for their menus. This involves designing full wine lists, suggesting wines that will complement dishes on their menus and often, she’ll deliver training to her customer’s staff members to ensure they are up to speed on what they are selling. Having spent over 30 years working within the restaurant and hospitality industry prior to working at LWC, Claire knows firsthand what her customers are looking for.

“I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the bar, which really helps when I’m discussing my customers’ requirements. I feel like my advice is even more helpful because I was a restaurant manager for so many years before I joined LWC.” Claire explains.

When she’s not at work, Claire is still surrounded by wine and food. Her career has meant she’s a bit of a foodie and loves both eating out and entertaining in her own home
